Collect / Delivery
Shipping & returns
Original artworks require careful, artwork-specific delivery. This policy describes the minimum information and process that must be in place before live checkout.
Effective for the pilot / 2 August 2026Private-sale pilot
A checkout marked Sandbox is only a test: no money moves and no artwork will be shipped. A checkout marked as a private sale creates a direct contract with the identified private seller when PayPal captures the payment and Augyart confirms the order.
Before a live order
- The seller, delivery countries or collection location, delivery method, total delivery charge and expected timing must be shown or agreed before payment.
- Large or fragile works that need a custom quote remain inquiry-only until the buyer accepts the quote.
- The listing must say whether delivery is included in the displayed price or whether the order is collection-only. A work needing a separate delivery quote remains inquiry-only.
Receiving an artwork
Inspect the package on arrival where practical. Photograph any visible damage before opening, retain the packaging and notify the seller promptly with the order reference and photographs. Prompt notice helps the carrier claim but does not remove mandatory rights concerning defective or damaged goods.
Voluntary 14-day private-sale return
Although a genuine private sale does not ordinarily carry the statutory consumer withdrawal right, Edward Stewart voluntarily offers the buyer 14 days after delivery or collection to send a clear cancellation notice for a standard listed artwork.
The buyer then has 14 days to return the work in the condition received. The buyer is responsible for protective packaging, tracked and appropriately insured transport, and any loss in value caused by handling beyond a careful inspection.
Return costs and refunds
The buyer pays direct return costs unless the seller agrees otherwise. The seller refunds the captured purchase amount after receiving the artwork in the agreed condition, or after receiving reliable evidence of return if the seller agrees to refund earlier.
Commissioned and defective works
The voluntary return promise does not apply to a clearly personalised or commissioned work when agreed before payment. This does not affect remedies where a work is damaged before risk passed, defective, inauthentic or materially different from its description. Complaints should be made to the seller in writing as soon as reasonably possible.
